Cedar v0.1 announced

Harvest Cedar while it’s a sapling

Our upcoming typeface Cedar has made an early debut, exclusively on Future Fonts. Designed by Jesse Ragan, Cedar’s puzzling system wraps rudimentary vector shapes around calligraphic structures in a hand-carved aesthetic.

We’re excited to embark on this new partnership with our friends at Future Fonts, the distributor of still-in-progress typefaces. Their model gives you access to cutting-edge typefaces at a fraction of the normal price—and gives you a way to show us which ones you’re interested in seeing developed.

If you buy Cedar version 0.1 (for $30), you will immediately receive three weights with a limited character set. As the family matures in development, you’ll be entitled to free updates while the price goes up for everyone else.

Cedar started all the way back in 2001—here you can see its germination, in this screenshot of RoboFog running on Mac OS 9, no less!
