Hello again! We donât usually send emails this frequently, but thereâs so much to tell you about what weâve changed for XYZ Type version 2.0! (Itâs not just our website that has changed.)
We aim to make font licensing as simple as possible. Since our policies are unique, here are a few things you might want to know about them.
ⶠRead âLicensing our fontsâ on our site
Wait? Why would I pay for trial fonts?!?!â â
â â Our paid trial fonts have all the glyphs and features of the retail fonts, include desktop & web formats, and are available for our retail & fonts in progress collections. They are for testing, client pitches, and student work. Use them for comps and then buy the license you need.â â â
They cost $20 for a family, and weâll credit you that back when you buy a full license.â
Donât worry, we still have free trial fonts; they have a limited character set, are just desktop fonts, are just for our retail collection, and include Trial in the font naming. Hey, they're free!â
ⶠTry our fonts
We now sell our desktop font licenses in tiers based on how many people will use the fonts. These days itâs a lot easier to count users than keep track of all their desktop computers, laptops, and tablets.â
Our web, app, and ePub licenses are priced by the size of the company using the fonts, rather than metrics like visitors or downloads.Â
Rather than having to buy variable fonts as a premium product, youâll automatically receive them along with the static fonts at no additional charge when you buy a license for all of a familyâs weights in either roman or italic.
We had so much fun on Instagram Live the last two times, weâll be at it again on Friday. Join us at August 26 at 3pm ET, when weâll answer your questions about licensing. Feel free to send questions in advance, or come and watch the replay later.
And in possibly the most unexpected development for our foundry, you can now find us on TikTok. We have some fun content planned there, so follow along.
Lastly, we want to thank Cydney Cherepak for illustrating our licensing, making the often dry subject a lot more colorful.
Thanks, as always, for your support!
