Ben and Jesse here. Thank you for your ongoing support of our independent foundry and for joining this list. It’s been a while since we’ve sent an email, and suddenly we have a lot to tell you. We’ll be distributing some big news in four more emails over what remains of August. (We won’t be offended if you prefer to declutter your inbox and click unsubscribe.)

But first, the biggest news of all:

We have a new website!

After five years in business, we found that it was time to upgrade our site with expanded functionality and room to grow. The new xyztype.com features variable fonts, revamped licensing, case studies, fonts in progress, and more. We’ll discuss all of those in upcoming emails.

Okay, it’s testimonial time.

When you need a website as specialized and secretly-complex as ours is, you call on someone you trust. For us, the obvious answer was GrayBits. We’ve been working with Branimir Vasilić, founder of Graybits, since he developed our first site, which launched in 2017. Given our personal experiences with them and their stellar work for other foundries, we asked them to both design and develop a site that satisfies all our needs for 2022 and the future.

They created a platform that sells complex products, tells immersive stories, and supports a newfangled approach to licensing. In addition to those logistical complexities, they carried our brand identity—originally created by Topos Graphics—forward in a natural evolution.

So we want to express our enormous gratitude to the dedicated and extremely patient team who built the site: developer Branimir Vasilić, designer Rahul Subhash Shinde, and director of operations Isabel Lederman.
